Dosing and Administration of SKELAXIN^®

Help Ensure an Effective Course of Therapy With SKELAXIN^® 800mg (metaxalone) Tablets TID/QID⁶

One 800mg tablet TID or QID⁶ brings prompt relief to muscle regions affected by pain and discomfort, often within 48 hours.¹¹ SKELAXIN^® does not interfere with the motor activity involved in maintaining balance and posture¹¹ and has a low incidence of CNS effects and drowsiness.^1,7,16

Recommended Dose

The recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is one 800mg tablet 3 to 4 times a day.⁶

Availability

SKELAXIN^® is available only as an 800mg oval, scored, pink tablet inscribed with 8667 on the scored side and “S” on the other.⁶

SKELAXIN^® (metaxalone) is indicated as an adjunct to rest, physical therapy, and other measures for the relief of discomforts associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions. The mode of action of this drug has not been clearly identified, but may be related to its sedative properties. Metaxalone does not directly relax tense skeletal muscles in man.

Important Safety Information

Taking SKELAXIN^® with food may enhance general CNS depression. Elderly patients may be especially susceptible to this CNS effect. The most frequent reactions to metaxalone include nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal upset, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and nervousness or "irritability."
