Safety and Side Effects of SKELAXIN^® 800mg (metaxalone) Tablets

SKELAXIN^® is non-narcotic and nonaddicting.^6,12 There are other benefits, such as:

No risk of dependence^6,12
No withdrawal symptoms^6,12
No adverse cardiovascular effects⁶
No dry mouth, urinary retention, or blurred vision⁶
No interactions with monoamine oxidase inhibitors⁶

As with all prescription medicines, there are also adverse effects.

Taking SKELAXIN^® with food may enhance general CNS depression. Elderly patients may be especially susceptible to this effect⁶
The most frequent reactions are nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal upset, drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and nervousness or "irritability"⁶

SKELAXIN^® (metaxalone) is indicated as an adjunct to rest, physical therapy, and other measures for the relief of discomforts associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions. The mode of action of this drug has not been clearly identified, but may be related to its sedative properties. Metaxalone does not directly relax tense skeletal muscles in man.

Important Safety Information
